ASSIGNMENT
Materials Assignment II: Responsive Composites - This is the second assignment for the Materials Section of the class. Due December 9, 2008. (As in the previous assignment, you will need create some online documentation of your fabrication process and add it to this blog post as a comment).
READINGS
Smart Materials and Technologies in Architecture, by Michelle Addington and Daniel L. Schodek. - This is a reading from a great book on smart materials in design. It will explain in more details a lot of the stuff covered in class.
E-Broidery: Design and Fabrication of textile-based computing, by E.R. Post et al. - This is the quintessential reading on electronic textiles. Required for next class!
Memory Rich Clothing: Second Skins that Communicate Physical Memory, by Joanna Berzowska - Another good introduction to electronic textiles and wearable computers and a good follow up after you are done reading E-Broidery.
Pulp-Based Computing: A Framework for Building Computers Out of Paper - If you are really not into textiles, this paper will give you a good idea of how to apply the same ideas and techniques to other domains.

Great tutorial on how to work with thermochromic inks, where to get them, etc…, by Joanna Berzowska
